If you don’t see the answer to a question you have below, please send it our way (info@seattlechildrensbookfestival.com)!

  1. DO YOU NEED TICKETS?

No, this whole event is FREE thanks to our generous sponsors! However, if you want to let us know you’re coming, it’s super helpful for us to keep track of expected numbers via our Facebook Event listing so we know how many supplies to have on hand, etc, etc. This is our first year so the more we know ahead of time, the better we can prepare — but no, you do not need to sign up for anything or purchase any tickets. Just come on down and join us any time between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, September 28th.

  2. CAN I BRING BOOKS FROM HOME FOR AUTHORS TO SIGN?

We ask that you bring no more than ONE book from home per author in order to best support the authors, local bookstores, and Seattle Public Schools — all of whom benefit when you purchase books on the day of the event.

  3. IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY PERSONALIZED BOOKS I CAN GET FROM A GIVEN AUTHOR?

We’ll do our best to accommodate personalized books from each of our authors on the day of the event, but high turnouts/long lines may require us to switch from personalized books to straight signing to cut down on wait times once the festival is underway for certain high demand authors.

  4. WILL EACH AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR HAVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BOOKS THEY’VE WRITTEN AVAILABLE FOR SALE?

For those of our author/illustrators who have more than one title to their name, you can expect to see a sampling of their most popular books. For a handful of our NYT bestsellers, you can expect to see all of the titles in their series available for sale. If there’s a particular book from a particular author you’re hoping to purchase, just send us an email and we’ll let our booksellers know!

  5. Are the lines first come, first served? Will authors stay until everyone in their line has a signed book?

Yes, our lines are first come, first served for each of our 49 authors and illustrators. We are aware that we have some superstars who tend to run long signing lines wherever they go — for that reason we’re excited to partner with Third Place Books to offer a Preorder option that guarantees you personalized/signed books from those authors who tend to have the longest waits. Many of our authors need to catch their flights home the evening after the festival so regrettably they won’t be able to stay until every person in their line has received a personalized/signed book. If you’re worried about wait times with a particular author, we highly recommend using the preorder option. Find out more about it by clicking HERE to visit the Third Place Books SCBF Landing Page! You can choose to have your book(s) shipped to you OR you can choose to pick up your books at any Third Place Books location. Please note that you will NOT be able to pick up your books at the festival. Books will be available for pick up beginning Sunday, September 29th.
